White Water Rafting on the Arkansas River in the Canon City area; half day and full day trips available. (recommendation: www.raftecho.com) White water rafting opportunities are approximately one hour from the Resort. White water rafting is a seasonal activity, and most enjoyable during June, July and August.
Other activities in the Arkansas River area include the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, right outside of Canon City. (www.royalgorgebridge.com) It is the home of the world's highest suspension bridge and includes a park with many additional features and activities. Another view of the Royal Gorge Canyon is via the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. (www.royalgorgeroute.com) This scenic 2-hour train ride is filled with adventure and wildlife, and offers many classes of service, including a vista dome lunch, to wine and dinner, theater trains.
Not to be missed is Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain. The Cog Railway, (www.cograilway.com) the world's highest cog train, travels to the 14,110 ft summit, running 8 trains daily. Reservations are encouraged. Driving to the top of Pikes Peak (www.pikespeakcolorado.com) is also an option. Round trip is approximately 3 hours by train - a bit less driving time. Academy Riding Stables (www.arsriding.com) is a spectacular way to experience a trip through the Garden of the Gods. The Stables at the Broadmoor (www.COmtnadventure.com) features trail rides through the Pike National Forest filled with wildlife and a truly western adventure. Both offer one hour and two hour rides – prices comparable.
I definitely recommend a High Country Jeep Tour or hot air ballooning. Try an excursion one of many segway tours. These adventures are offered through Adventures Out West and can be customized for your individual desires. www.adventuresoutwest.com

Continuing west is the national historic district of Manitou Springs (www.manitouspsrings.org) with a Native American influence, it houses naturally carbonated mineral springs, art galleries, boutiques and exceptional restaurants are available in both Old Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs.
