George, Betsy, and the rest of the Waddys Today
Hello to all 73-01ers from George and Pam (aka-Betsey)
After our stint in the T37 in the skies over northern OK and not seeing any Rated Suppliment that interested us, we returned to Georgia in '75 and managed a large dairy farm for 3 years. We wanted to purchase our own farm but with 12 to 14% inflation that wasn't going to work so I went back to a company I had worked for in high school and college driving a truck, that was in '78.
Beginning to miss some aspects of the military life, I joined the 700 Tactical Airlift Squadron at Dobbins ARB in1980.Initially flying the C-7A Caribou, we transitioned to the C-130H2 in 1982. I was a traditional Reservist there until 1987 when I was asked to become a fulltimer (ART). That lasted until Oct 20,1999 when I retired with 24 years and 17 years in the Herc.
Being too young to really retire (50) and the airlines hiring old guys, I joined Delta the next day and still enjoy flying with them. Currently on the Airbus 330 as First Officer. I have 2 years left before 65 and will stay an F/O.
On the parallel course, we purchased a small farm in 1980 and currently amuse ourselves on our off days with a small herd of beef cattle, a sawmill, a Skid Steer loader and dump truck ( we do landscaping when bored!).
Pam, or Betsey as some know her, and I have been busy with a family as well. The picture is of our 13 kids (10 boys and 3 girls). 5 of the boys are married and we have 14 grandkids. So you won't think her a slacker by staying at home all day, Betsey has been involved in substitute teaching, helping at a day care center and several choir duties at our Church.
It seems a short time since our days at Vance, We only hope that the Good Lord has allowed you and yours to enjoy Life as He has with us.
See ya in Aug.
